Do you have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)?

It may be challenging for your healthcare provider to figure out for sure whether you have IBD. That’s because the symptoms of IBD are similar to those of some other medical conditions, such as celiac disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

If you have IBD, it may also be hard to know which type you have. This is because many symptoms of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are the same. Here are some examples:

  • Pain and cramping in the abdomen (belly)
  • Diarrhea that lasts a long time
  • Blood in the stool
  • An urgent need to move the bowels
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Fatigue
  • Anemia
